About This Course

This course covers the basics of firearm safety, how firearms work, safe storage practices, and California firearm laws and regulations.
At the end of the class, students will take the written exam required to obtain a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) — which is mandatory for purchasing firearms in California.​

This course is approximately 90 minutes and includes a 60-minute classroom lecture followed by a 30-minute written exam.​

Equipment List
Applicants must be legal residents of California and provide a valid California driver’s license or ID card.
Temporary paper IDs or photos of identification are not accepted as valid documentation.

All applicants must be 21 years of age or older.

No Audio or Video Recording:
Recording during the course is strictly prohibited. Cell phones must be turned off or set to silent for the entire session.

Documentation Requirement:
Participants must present valid identification at check-in. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the exam and no refund.

​

Exam Policy:
Students who do not pass the exam will not receive a certificate or refund, but will be given an opportunity to retake the exam.

​
